Do you remember the good old days when a box could take you to the other side of the world? Or maybe the moon? The one thing that will never get old is watching kids use their imaginations! These pre-kindergarteners sure had some fun with this box.

I am sure you are all wondering what our 7th grader Bek has been doing in the tunnel door, below is how she came up with this idea. The original idea of sock buddies started with my 6th grade upcycling project. I found out that acrylics can take hundreds of years to degrade, and there are a lot of clothes in landfills. We had some leftover rice socks and decided we could make more to use for a Peanut Butter Jelly Drive for the DR food pantry. We collected mismatched single socks in nice condition to upcycle into sock buddies and rice socks. We made about 230 rice socks to exchange for peanut butter and jelly donations. There are some that go in the microwave or freezer, and some that only go in the freezer. You can heat up rice socks to put on aches and pains. You can use cold ones for bumps, brusies, and headaches.
